Holidays are a time full of joy and cheer. Whatever the time of year, holidays can connect us to culture and tradition.

With a December hiding theme, geocaching is part of the tradition. This month, we received so many amazing cache nominations that we couldn’t help but celebrate! Check out some of our favorites in this celebratory feature:

      On this North American holiday, the fate of the season depends on a little rodent named Punxsutawney Phil. If he saw his shadow, there would be six more weeks of winter; otherwise, there will be early spring. The more important question is: will he find the cache?

   How many do you Love trackable hotels? This cute Valentine’s Day themed cache takes that love to another level. We think you’ll like it too.

   It is a tradition on St. Patrick’s Day. Patrick to wear green, or you’ll be in a bind! See if you’re lucky and find this fun Irish leprechaun themed cache. Will you find the cache at the end of the rainbow?

   A favorite Easter tradition is painting and hiding Easter eggs. While we can’t say the Easter bunny helps hide this, there are plenty of colorful eggs to be seen in the cache gallery!

   The solstice is celebrated in various ways around the world. This educational Virtual Cache, located right on the university campus, takes us back to the origins of time. The sun will be front and center at midday on the summer solstice. Can you get the stars to align to take down this one?

   There’s nothing scarier than a micro in the woods. Except maybe this micro in a haunted forest! Experience the nightmare of this haunting Halloween cache—if you dare!

   Let there be light! This Christmas-adjacent hideaway has another purpose for string lights besides surrounding the tree. Can you put them all together to solve the combination?

   In Tokyo, Christmas is celebrated with an event known as “Kioi Winter”, when the city is illuminated with thousands of lights. This cache brings you front and center to experience the beauty of the lights firsthand.

   

   There is no shortage of “silly” holiday traditions here! In Sweden, it’s not the holiday season until you’ve had Sill, a traditional Christmas fish dish. So get silly with this cache—ti’s the season!
