Geocache settings are now easier!
With the new Geocaching® app coordinate collector (version 10.2.0+ on iOS and version 10.3.0+ on Android), you can collect and name coordinates directly in the app. This feature is now available on iOS and will soon roll out to Android. If you’re on Android and haven’t seen it yet, it should appear as soon as version 10.3.0 is available.
Your saved coordinates are automatically synced to your owner dashboard on Geocaching.com.
No more screenshots, extra landmarks, or questions about why you saved the location. Just open the tab Cache installed in the app to access the coordinates collector and get started.
With the coordinate collector you can:
- Collect and name contact details: save locations in the app and give each location a special name, such as “Near Big Pine.”
- Measure GPS accuracy: The app does the work for you — when you tap “Collect Coordinates,” it filters out bad readings and averages multiple signals to give you more reliable results.
- Access your saved coordinates on Geocaching.com: Your contact details appear in your owner dashboard, ready to use when you create a cached page.
This is just the first step towards a more mobile-friendly posing experience, and more updates are planned soon.
NOTE: Saving coordinates does not guarantee a location is reserved for your cache. To learn more about installation guidelines, visit the Help Center.
