Whatever your interests or hobbies, there’s a cache (or three, or three million!) out there for you!

For cache owner Fietsoloog, geocaching easily fits in with their other hobby, cycling. So when they decided to keep their own cache, they naturally combined their favorite activities with a cycling and walking tour of 12 caches in the Dutch countryside.

Fietsoloog makes a 5 mile (8 km) loop near the Drents-Friese Wold National Park. Just as they enjoy planning cycling routes around a cache or two, geocachers can also enjoy a little exercise and get some fresh air while discovering these bike-themed geocaches. Geocachers can start their journey at any of twelve caches, but we recommend saving this one for last to ensure plenty of time to enjoy it.

For Fietsoloog, cycling is not just a hobby; it is a lifelong passion. As bike shop owners, they have all the equipment needed to create this clever storage area. The finale, #12 Wandel en fietsplezier XXL-TB hotel, was an extra special tribute to cycling.

This cache also serves as a warning about bicycle safety. Fietsoloog shares their story of a serious bicycle accident and displays the damaged bicycle frame to encourage others to always wear a helmet! But broken frames serve a dual purpose. The frame is part of the puzzle and one must solve it to open the gas station turned charging station turned geocache.

Once inside, geocachers were treated to a small model of Fietsoloog’s bike shop, just the right size for setting up the trackable, which hung on a hook above the shop. The cache owner keeps the geocache in pristine condition and even offers a bike pump for your tires if you need one! This notebook is full of signatures and well wishes from visitors, congratulating Fietsoloog on their recovery and the creation of a wonderful cache.
