Each week, we highlight a variety of geocaches from around the world. This year has been a treasure trove of unique finds, from a birthday cake-inspired geocache in Belgium to a room filled with petlings in Germany and a historic train track in San Marino. The variety is sure to pique your interest and keep you on the edge of your seat.
We looked at the geocaches you like most on our blog, Facebook, and Twitter and also considered factors like creativity, uniqueness, and, of course, great photos to compile a list of the top 8. Tell us your favorite:
1.) ✊ TAP ✊ – GCABKD6
Many recognize this iconic song, often heard as a beat, but did you know that one day it could help you find a geocache? Come hum along with us as we open the doors to ✊ KNOCK ✊(GCABKD6).
Geocachers begin their visit with a short walk along the River Trent in Wilford, a village in the district of Nottingham. With the river on one side and St. Mary’s Church. Historic Wilfrid on the other hand, there are plenty of sights to captivate you on your way to the cache.

2.) PETling Room – GC50CRA
Have you ever had difficulty choosing where to start? This Letterbox Hybrid (GC50CRA) may only have three stages, but there are thousands of opportunities for clues and maybe some fun too!
Petlings are pre-formed 2 liter soda capsules and a common container in Germany, where this geocache is located. Hidden by the notorious PETling Mafia, the group came together to create a geocache with so many petling containers that it could be considered a crime.

3.) [BERRY] Montale Gallery – GC9FN88
Everyone join in! Welcome to the Montale Tunnel, a historic railway tunnel in San Marino. Open to the public, the tunnel provides learning experiences and recreational opportunities for local residents and visitors. Join us as we discover San Marino’s history together [BERRY] Montale Gallery (GC9FN88).
Between 1932 and 1944, the Rimini–San Marino railway connected Rimini, Italy with San Marino. Although the railroad is only 19.6 miles (31.5 kilometers) long, it includes seventeen tunnels. Montale Tunnel, home to GC9FN88, is the closest of the seventeen tunnels to San Marino station. Damage during World War II closed the railroad permanently.

5.) GeoTour GA52: Heel Lock 2 – GC9223F
Keys not only open doors and locks but also stories and memories. This geocache (GC9223F) requires patience and skill to find the perfect key and unlock the geocache; often it is the last key in the group that opens the lock.
Located in a quiet little park in the charming town of Huizen, this is one of 60 geocaches in the Garden of Amsterdam GeoTour (GT5B). Upon entering the park and arriving at GZ, a larger-than-life statue casts a shadow over any new visitor. Upon further inspection, this was not just any statue; it was a man walking with thousands of keys on rings chained to a platform beneath his feet.

6.) M mm my Corona! – GC9FBMY
Silly SWAG, trackable items, and *gasp* spiders! Players often like to discuss unexpected items they find in geocaches. But what was the most surprising thing you discovered as a geocache?
M mm my Corona! (GC9FBMY) is an unexpected delight like no other. With over 100 Favorite points, this cache is a crowd pleaser. We don’t need to explain it to you—creative caches like this are totally our KIND!

7.) How to get a driver’s license 🚘 – GC8NKE4
Geocaching is a highway; we want to ride it all night! Luckily, geocachers don’t usually need a driver’s license to find a geocache, but this one is a little different! So hop in the car, head to Switzerland, and see if you can pass this driving test to discover Der Weg zum Führerschein 🚘 (GC8NKE4).
To find these geocaches, geocachers must pass several theoretical tests. Here’s what cache owner JaMaDuLi had to say about the cache: “Anyone who wants to drive a vehicle obviously needs a driver’s license. To obtain it, you must successfully pass the theory test first, then the practical test.

8.) Stone Island Skillet Tree – GC6VVF3
Mission accomplished, tree search! This cache location is very unique! This Week’s Geocache is for those who love urban legends, abandoned places, and the strange and strange things you find in the woods.
Rock Islands Frying Pan Tree (GC6VVF3) is located near a noisy highway in rural New Jersey, an unassuming place for a mysterious hideout. Although “Rock Island” is actually located nearby, it is clear how this cache got the first part of its name. Two large rocky hills rise above a sea of trees, which brave geocachers must climb to get to this cache.
