This cache is not your average T5! Cache owner KiwiGary adds an extra nautical twist to their cache, challenging geocachers to channel their inner pirate for this adventure on the high seas.

“Make sure all team members “Talk like Pirates” during the hunt. But holding a knife between your teeth is not a cache requirement. Wearing a pirate hat is encouraged.”

The first challenge a would-be pirate faces is finding a seaworthy TOTT. In this case, a boat or kayak is highly recommended to navigate the Puhoi River safely. If you forget your feet in the sea, you can wait for low tide to brave the crossing, but you’ll definitely be in a miserable mess.

No matter how you choose to cross, this route is not without danger! Make sure to check the tides and watch out for sandbars to avoid sinking your ship!

Sailing in salt water is only the first part (peg) of the journey. After landing, it’s time to bushwhack towards GZ. A clever pirate knows how to use all the clues (and recent notes) in the cache page to find the treasure.

Avast! The treasure was finally at hand; a watertight cache container cleverly hidden among the trees. Enjoy the loot inside and exchange a dubbloon or two before signing the notebook and carefully replacing the container for the next raider to find.
